Corvette Sting Ray

With a bargain price tag and supercar performance, the Corvette C7 Stingray has rebooted the iconic American sports car. But can it compete with Europe’s best: the Audi R8, Porsche 911 and Jaguar F-type?

The seventh-generation Chevrolet Corvette. It marks the return of the Stingray; in name, at least. It certainly looks good on paper: all-new styling, chassis, cabin and – most importantly – the new LT1 V8 engine. But how does it fare against the best that Europe can offer? Can it out-accelerate and out-brake a Porsche 911? Does it sound better than a Jaguar F-type? Can it out-handle an Audi R8? Steve Sutcliffe referees the biggest sports car battle of 2014.

Can a supercar beat a superbike? Can a Audi A1 outrun a Nissan GT-R on a wet circuit? Can a Porsche 911 slay a Corvette on the drag strip? Autocar pitches the giants of the performance car world against each other to deliver the all-important verdict.

You drive like my father, to one side of the lane your driving in. It drives me nuts when ever I ride with him driving. lol

Truly terrible gearbox.. Shifts are way too slow for the type of car. A rapid Dual clutch would be awesome with that engine and power output.

C7's are the best for rust inducing salty environments such as Miami and coastal Florida. Just keep the bird shit off the paint and you're good to go. Cheers and nice video as well.

I saw two separate occasions in the video when random panties just flew across the screen. Gotta love them Corvettes :)

I honestly don't care if it's an automatic I prefer manual but. Who wouldn't drive a c7 corvette regardless of the transmission.

wtf lol notice how in the braking test against the porsche the corvette is in the wet part of the road and the 911 isnt … mmm pretty bs if you ask me

something I noticed…all this reviews are really commercials for the manufacturers..They never really show realistic driving conditions. We won't be drifting or tracking this car everyday or race the guy next to you traffic. And most reviews of the these cars 99% of the viewers arnt going to buy since they can't afford them.

American cars used to be a bit of a joke, but not any more. It's so good to see how much they have improved over the last few years, this Corvette not only appears to have awesome performance and handling but totally looks the business, I'd buy one if I could.
Also The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon, esp the diesel which will come out next year is infinity better than anything landrover has come up with in the last 20 years.
And finally (as I am an environmental petrol head) I just absolutely love the new Chevrolet Volt, it's leaps and bounds ahead of anything Europe can offer.
(Maybe if Corvette make a diesel version of the C06-C7 Europeans might buy it!!!)

from this bunch.. i would take the vette. And i m no american. It looks good, sound good.. and it has more character than audi or a porsche.
one thing i mind here is that they took a drag test vs 911.. and not the jag or even an audi…why is that? 911 has the smallest engine here

The 2015 Porsche Cayman GT4 costs exactly the same as Corvette and is by miles better, more refined, fun to drive and most of all is made in Germany.

The Corvette design is so simplistic and childish. It looks like the designer was a big fan of transformers. Look at corvette's rear end and exhaust. the real light's crease, that is so ugly coupled with the hilarious 4 pipe exhaust. Typical american rubbish design. In other hand, european cars are designed to purpose.

The Corvette looks the best especially in this targa version…great performance and handling and lovely interior …the best!!!!
